Another year begins.
Through the relentless churn and turnover of songs sung in church, where so many songs are brought in and cast aside with equal urgency, there are just a handful that really stand out for me. They may not be songs written specifically this year, but they are ones which have meant much to me this year. So to reverse the traditions of Sunday afternoon top 40 on Radio 1, I’ll start with this years no. 1…
No. 1 – Your Love Never Fails – Chris McClarney
What a voice. I love that it doesn’t feel like any other worship song, even to the fact that the chorus doesn’t quite feel like a chorus, but it fills me with passion everytime I hear it.
No. 2 – How He Loves Us – John Mark McMillan
There’s nothing left to say about this song that hasn’t already been said. Let this Jesus Culture version wash over you.
No.3 – One Thing Remains – Jerremy Riddle
Oh it’s those Jesus Culture people being all awesome again, I wish they would stop it.
No.4 – Here For You – Matt Redman
10,000 Reasons was such a mighty album, that man keeps on writing songs that the church can’t stop singing. Which is why I’ve got 2 from him.
No.5 – Bless The Lord (10,000 Reasons) – Matt Redman
